I started in Asset Finance in 1978 with Lloyds Bank and have since worked for an American Lessor, UDT, Black Horse Fleet Finance & GE Capital in a variety of positions but always specialising in Asset Finance, whether for small Companies or very large Corporate and Wholesale Customers. 

In 2001 I decided to set off on a new journey as a founder of an Asset Finance Intermediary Business. As a broker you can offer clients so much more than a one stop shop bank. This entails new products, various and varied credit lines, and advice which is best for the client and not the provider. That was 15 years ago and with my colleagues help, I am now a proud Co-Owner of a thriving business in Advance Finance and Leasing Ltd.

Like the rest of the team I have an extensive range of Asset and Leasing experience. I started many years ago, too many to mention! at ERF Trucks in Sandbach, at a time when leasing started to become the preferred route for truck acquisition.  I then moved in to Contract Hire providing long and short term rental for both trucks and trailers.  My last corporate role was specialising in Operating Lease Funding, where my mix of asset and financial knowledge was ideally suited.

This level of experience has given me a great insight in to what works and what doesn’t. As a co-founder of AFL I am immensely proud of the entity which it has now become. We play the long game, always aiming to do the right thing, and providing advice that puts clients’ needs first. From the national corporate to the new start enterprise, we ensure that we offer a service which fits.

Mark Evans

Mark is the Commercial Director of the company. His multi-disciplinary role involves the general management of leasing operations, including syndication, rental and own-book. Mark is also involved in developing client relationships and dealing with a vast portfolio of UK and international financial institutions in structuring middle-ticket asset finance transactions predominantly within the UK transportation and logistics sector.

Mark’s background includes twenty years working within the leasing industry, having gained a broad range of knowledge and experience working for bank-owned leasing companies, intermediaries and asset managers. Mark is both a Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute and the Leasing Foundation. Mark also holds an MBA with Manchester Business School and the NACFB Diploma in Commercial Finance.

Bill Moffat

Bill joined the Advance team in 2008 and is our longest serving Associate being based in the North-west of England. Bill has been in the asset finance industry for over 20 years, having worked in direct sales for a number of Commercial and Corporate Banks including GE Capital, Bank of Scotland, Alliance & Leicester and latterly, The Royal Bank of Scotland within its Lombard Corporate Asset Finance operation.

Bill has developed a specialism working on syndicated Operating Lease structured funding with the application of bespoke finance documentation. This includes negotiating areas such as return conditions, pooling clauses and also advising on the accounting treatment of such leases. Bill works with a range of large corporate clients primarily within E-Commerce Supply Chain Logistics.

Chris has been in the asset finance business for 29 years, in a variety of roles which includes Lombard, dealer finance in the motor trade and as an intermediary. He has arranged funding for commercial vehicles, cars, plant and equipment, and term loans for tax funding. Chris covers South Manchester and the High Peak area.

Mark is our Associate covering the Commercial Dealer Networks. Mark is very experienced in structuring a range of finance and leasing transactions for Owner-Operators, Regional and UK-Wide Distribution Firms. Mark has been working in the Commercial Vehicle Asset Finance sector for 35 years, starting in the industry with Barclays Mercantile, working within their MAN Finance Commercial Vehicle operation. Mark then worked for Key Leasing for a number of years and latterly with Iveco Finance, where he was in charge of Business Development of the North West Dealer Network.
